Teague Marcano played in all five matches, scoring five times as Trinidad & Tobago finished 12th at the Indoor World Cup in Croatia last week.
Germany finished as champions, beating Austria 2-1 in a shootout following a 6-6 draw.
Raphael Govia’s side were drawn into Pool C with Belgium, Australia and Nimibia, beginning their campaign against eventual-finalists Austria.
They were beaten 7-2 with Marcano scoring one of the two goals before a 6-3 loss to Namibia, with Marcano again on the scoresheet.
A 7-2 defeat to Belgium was the only match that Marcano failed to score in as his side finished bottom of their pool to set up a ranking match with the hosts.
A brace from Marcano provided two of Trinidad’s three goals but they were defeated 12-3, leaving them to play in the 11th/12th-placed play-off on the final day.
Marcano levelled the scores at 3-3 against Malaysia in that match at the end of the second quarter and Trinidad took the lead early on in the second half but were eventually pegged back and lost 6-4.
The tournament saw Marcano move to 98 international goals across all formats (33 Hockey5s, five indoor and 60 outdoor) in just 66 caps.
