Holcombe meet Surbiton in what looks set to be an exciting Premier Division match on Saturday evening (18:30).
Holcs have won three of their opening four matches – beating Wimbledon, Cardiff & Met and Hampstead & Westminster before losing to champions Old Georgians last time out.
Surbiton, meanwhile, have played just three matches and won all three, sitting above Holcombe in second courtesy of their goal difference. Barry Middleton’s side missed a match when they hosted the Euro Hockey League KO16 earlier this month, during which they reached the Final 8 to join Old Georgians at the end-of-season showcase.
Kwan Browne’s side will welcome back former player-coach Middleton this weekend for the first time since his summer departure to the Londoners, who could also include Gareth Furlong – brother of former Holcombe player Rhodri.
The sides met twice last season – in Phase One and Phase Two. Holcombe won 3-2 at Sugden Road in September as they made another impressive start to the campaign before winning 1-0 at Holcombe Park in February against an injury-depleted Holcombe.
Entry is free at Holcombe Park for both first-team matches on Saturday with Holcombe’s women also in action at 16:00 against Reading and updates will be provided across our social media channels. With this being a double-header weekend, both of Holcombe’s first-teams also travel to East Grinstead tomorrow.
