Congratulations to Alex Moen who has won the Game Clothing Premier League with Melbourne CC Hockey.
Moen played in nine of the 15 regular season matches, starting six, as MCC finished third behind Waverley and Doncaster in the top-flight of hockey in Victoria.
Melbourne won their quarter-final against Doncaster 4-3, racing into a 4-0 lead before half-time before three final quarter goals gave Doncaster hopes of a comeback. Moen first came on as a fifth-minute substitute.
In the preliminary final, it was the turn of MCC to make a late comeback. Southern United had led through Nathan Ephraums since the first quarter before three goals in the final 10 minutes from Joshua Bretherton and Peter Scott (2) turned the game on its head, with Moen first involved in sixth minute.
It was another substitute appearance in the grand final as Moen came on after five minutes. Simon McKeever, Tony Wilson and Jayme Walsh gave Moen’s side a 3-0 lead before Damon Steffens scored a consolation in the fourth period for Waverley.
