By Lucas Ball

Holcombe Hockey Club are delighted to confirm the arrival of New Zealand international Tessa Reid, with the defender becoming Nick Bandurak’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Maddie Newitt, Olivia Shannon, Hope Ralph and Kaitlin Cotter.

Reid, 20, has been capped four times at senior level by the Black Sticks and also has nine caps at under-21 level internationally, scoring three goals.

With Canterbury Cats, Reid came third in the 2023 Ford National Hockey Championship and also finished top of the 2023 Otautahi Cup standings with three wins out of three.

Reid also finished as top-scorer at the event with three goals and earlier this year was part of the South under-21 side that won 2-0 in the three-match 2024 North v South U21 Women series, scoring once in a 2-0 win in the final match.

On signing, Reid said: “I’m super excited for the opportunity to move to England and be a part of Holcombe.

“I can’t wait to meet everyone and play some great hockey!”

Meanwhile, Head Coach Bandurak added: “Tessa’s experience and range of passing will be a huge asset to our defensive group and I’m looking forward to seeing her impact on our play in the defensive third.

“I’m thrilled she’s chosen to play her hockey at Holcombe Park and I’m looking forward to working with her throughout this coming season.”

Reid will wear the number five shirt for Holcombe this season.

Welcome to Holcombe, Tessa!
