Holcombe Hits the Road: Masterclass Weekend at Bude Hockey Club

We were absolutely delighted to support Bude Hockey Club recently for their first-ever international masterclass weekend down in North Cornwall. It was a fantastic opportunity for our coaches and Premier League stars to head down to the coast, share their expertise, and help inspire the next generation of players.

Led by our Head Coach (and Great Britain Assistant Coach) Kwan Browne, the weekend kicked off with high-energy junior sessions focusing on essential core skills. First-team stars Teague Marcano, Rob Field, Ali Douglas, and Trevor De Lora were all on hand to demonstrate their world-class abilities, working closely with the young players to help finesse their game before testing them in some friendly small-sided matches.

The senior players and adults took to the pitch in the afternoon, pushing their consistency and pace to the next level under the guidance of the squad. Meanwhile, the goalkeepers were treated to a specialist clinic run by Holcombe legend and current England Over 55s keeper Sean Parker. Sean delivered highly individualised feedback before putting the local keepers to the ultimate test: a drag-flick penalty corner shootout against our first-team stars.

Day two saw England international Sam Taylor take the reins, starting the morning in spectacular fashion with a brilliant, high-energy Under-10s session full of fun and games.

To top off a brilliant weekend, the club also donated a huge stack of spot prizes across the sessions, with some lucky players taking home brand-new sticks, signed memorabilia, and international playing shirts.

This trip marks the beginning of what both clubs hope will be an exciting, long-term partnership as we work together to help grow the sport and support sustainable hockey in Cornwall. A massive thank you to everyone at Bude Hockey Club for being such welcoming hosts!
